The following is a series of rather remarkable images taken somewhere in the Southern US probably in the 1970's.  They are of a tow transporting coal most likely near Demopolis, Alabama.  I downloaded them from a website that was closing down, and as far as I know there is no copyright.  They are in sequential order down the page.

As you can see the river is flooding and the tow has released the barges and they have passed beneath the bridge.
The tow appears to be caught in the current and its stern is being forced starboard.
Notice that the current is very strong and is almost breaching the working deck.
The pilot house appears not to have taken on any water, however, notice deck 2 and the working deck.  Water is pouring from the hatches.
Note that the starboard rail and stack have sustained considerable damage from the bridge superstructure.
Obviously the pumps are winning the battle as the tow is riding higher in subsequent photographs.
Notice the smoke around the deck.  The starboard engine is functioning for sure and possibly the port engine as well.  The tow is under power!
The tow is re-attaching the barges!  Just another day on the river!!!!
Thanks to the photographer that took this series of truly remarkable photographs and the crew of this tow.  WOW.
